New Barn Farmhouse Nearby Attactions and Local Events

We are conveniently situated for you to enjoy many of the visitor attractions that the Garden of England has to offer.

  • Attractions with Animals
    Woodchurch Rare Breeds Centre is 10 minutes drive away, and is an excellent day out for children and adults alike. We are also within easy reach of the following: -
    Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks, The Wildwood and Farming World.

  • Castles
    Leeds Castle, Dover Castle, Walmer Castle and Rochester Castle are all nearby. You can also catch the Steam Train from Tenterden to Bodiam Castle.

  • Dining (locally)
    There are 3 pubs in the Village of Bethersden all offering lunches and evening meals. Two of which are in walking distance. The surrounding villages all offer pubs that serve good food.

    The pretty old town of Tenterden has a host of different restaurants for you to try; Italian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Turkish and others.

  • Footpaths
    Along with the very many local footpaths through the fields and woods on our doorstep, we are in close vicinity to the Pilgrims Way and the Greensand Way. We can offer a pick up and drop off service, if you are walking along these paths, as well as provide you with a packed lunch if required.

  • Gardens/Houses /Heritage
    Sissinghurst, Godinton House, Great Dixter, Doddington, Iden Green Herb Garden, Yalding Organic Garden, Brogdale Horticultural Trust, SmallHythe Place, Goodnestone Park Gardens, Beech Court Gardens, Samphire Hoe, Groombridge Place Gardens and Enchanted Forest, Bedgebury Pinetum, Penshurst Place and Gardens, Ightam Mote, Chartwell, are all within reach.

    The Historic City of Canterbury is only half an hour drive away, with its old city wall, Cathedral, Witches ducking stool, and other attractions.

    Dover (DeBradlei Wharf)
    Tenterden (Antiques, Gifts and Boutiques)
    Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells both have good shopping centres with Department Stores.

  • Sports Facilities
    There are public Tennis courts in Bethersden, and Sam is a Registered Tennis Coach, and therefore, Tennis lessons are available during your stay (by arrangement).

    We have quite a few pay and play golf courses in the local area, as well as pitch & putt.

    Gliding at Challock, Point to point racing at Charing, Parachuting & light aircraft flying at Headcorn aerodrome, local stables can provide riding lessons, and hacking locally. There are sports centres in Tenterden and Ashford providing swimming, exercise classes and courts for racquet sports, as well as other sports facilities.

    Bewl Water with its cycle hire and cycle routes along with water sports is within half an hour drive.

  • Steam Trains Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch light Railways and Kent & East Sussex Railway at Tenterden, offer fun for both the Steam Train Enthusiast and others alike.

Travel
Ashford International Station is only 15 minutes drive away, and has trains to London, Canterbury the coast and International destinations via the Eurostar.

Eurotunnel is 20 to 30 minutes drive away, and the ferry ports are also close by, for travel to Europe.
